as kron four's terisa estacio reports, they're just the latest in a series -- igniting a debate over free speech. >> reporter: the controversial ads will be placed on the sides of several muni buses..and will go through town on different routes for the four weeks they will be in circulation. in total there will be 6 ads. kron four obtained three of them. one reads, the punishment of homsexuality is the death penalty and this one, homsexualaty is ugly in iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country. the ads are paid for by the american freedom defense initiative or afdi run by pamela geller. geller's organization recently ad a series of other ads some called anti- muslim. at san francisco's metropolitian agency, paul rose says the public owned facility is in a difficult position. >> even though we disagree content we cannot litigate

the nation. >> we have the country that has the opportunity to step up into the right thing. with constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and a permit in those seven states and to ratify the good work that was done in california. >> reporter: the u.s. supreme court is going to hear arguments on tuesday and wednesday of next week. dan kerman kron 4 news. >> catherine: a 20 year old man was shot and killed in antioch today - police are now looking for the gunman. it happened this afternoon - near a grade school at william reed drive and west madill street. marsh elementary was not placed on lock down. there's no word on on the identity of the victim.and police do not have any suspects. this was antioch's second murder of the year. the f-b-i and rohnert police are looking for a serial bank robber called "the hoodie bandit". this is a surveillance photo of the man suspected of robbing three banks in sonoma county. he's known for giving out demand notes -- and wearing a hooded sweatshirt during the robberies.

tradition in san francisco's mission district might not happen this year. you're looking at video from last year's carnaval celebration. the organization that usually puts on the parade. has run out of money. a new group has just stepped in. but still has a lot of work to do. it needs to raise 170- thousand dollars. and get 500 volunteers in order to keep carnaval going for its 35th year. >> we believe in miracles. parking garage. and the driver is ok. it happened in san antonio last night. you can see the car landed on its roof. police believe the 19-year old driver was racing another car in the garage when it happened. he's now recovering in the hospital. no one else was hurt. >> the puppeteer who gave sesame street's elmo his voice. is facing a disturbing new lawsuit. a federal suit filed this week by sheldon stephens, claims that kevin clash threw a crystal meth "sex" party in 2004. stephens is the fourth man to sue the ex-elmo puppeteer. but he was the first one to publicly claim he had a sexual relationship with him as a teen. three other men then filed lawsuits accusing clash of befriending them as teenagers then having in sex with them. the accusations led to clash being suspended from sesame street. he eventually resigned. his lawyer says the latest lawsuit is "meritless and barred by the statute of limitations." >> jacqueline: still some drizzle are round of the

>> the senate has passed a huge spending bill to fund the government through the end of september. the bill would avoid a partial federal shutdown at the end of the month. a vote tomorrow in the house would send the measure to the president for his signature. it includes funding for the day-to-day operating budgets of every cabinet agency, and another 87- billion dollars for military operations in afghanistan and iraq. >> the unemployment rate for veterans dropped last year, according to a new labor report. but veterans still lag behind non-veterans in the job market. the jobless rate for veterans who served in the military since the 9-11 terror attacks dropped by two percent in 2012. >> rising gas prices are really taking a chunk out of people's monthly budgets. but now a bay area grocer is working with a local oil company -- to reduce prices at gas stations across northern california. kron 4's dan kerman explains.
